The world’s largest collaborative embroidery project, The Red Dress tells stories through stitch from across the globe. Conceived by British artist Kirstie Macleod, 380 embroiderers contributed their designs to the 87 panels of burgundy silk, using embroidery techniques and motifs from across five continents. Many of the contributors were vulnerable, marginalised, living in poverty, refugees or survivors of conflict.
The Red Dress has previously been exhibited in Paris, Geneva, Krakow, Cairo, Sarajevo and Stellenbosch amongst other places.
