Discover Cornwall’s Secret World of Play and Trains at Lappa Valley, a unique family day out near Newquay, set within 30 acres of beautiful Cornish countryside.
Every visit begins with a memorable train ride from Benny Halt, travelling through the countryside and into the heart of the valley. On arrival, families will discover a full day of indoor and outdoor adventures, with all main activities and unlimited rides on three railways included in admission.
Little explorers can let off steam across a fantastic choice of outdoor play areas, bounce on the trampolines, tackle the toddler path maze or enjoy indoor Soft Play inside The Engine Shed. Families can also challenge one another to a round of accessible Adventure Golf, try Frisbee Golf, make music along the Musical Walk or set off on a peaceful Woodland Walk.
The fun continues on the water aboard Lappa Valley’s much-loved Pedalo Swans, while the Newlyn Downs Branch Line carries passengers on a half-mile journey through the Cornish countryside to an additional adventure play area, family games field, dog exercise area and Picnic and Paddle – perfect for cooling off on a sunny day. Visitors can ride the train back or return through the valley along the picturesque woodland trail.
Train lovers can enjoy unlimited journeys on the Main Railway, Newlyn Downs Branch Line and Lakeside Railway. The smaller Lakeside Railway is packed with playful surprises, including gnomes, chimpanzees and even sharks!
Lappa Valley is located within the historic surroundings of East Wheal Rose, where visitors can see the magnificent engine house and chimney and discover more about the area’s fascinating mining and railway heritage in the Lappa Valley Story Museum.
When it is time to refuel, The Engine Shed café serves a tempting selection of hot meals, light bites, children’s favourites, drinks and homemade treats, with wonderful views across the boating lake. Picnic areas are also available throughout the park.
Designed especially with younger families in mind, Lappa Valley offers plenty of space to play, explore and make memories together. Facilities include wheelchair-accessible trains, accessible Adventure Golf, a Changing Places toilet and a dedicated buggy carriage. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, although they cannot enter the Soft Play areas.
With the train journey, play areas and main activities all included, Lappa Valley truly is a “Pay once, play all day” family experience. Pre-booking is highly recommended, particularly during weekends and school holidays.
