Discover the nostalgia of steam travel with a journey back in time on Cornwall’s leading full-size railway operated by steam locomotives. Relax in style and enjoy a leisurely 13-mile round trip, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone age, as the era of a Cornish branch line in the 1950s is revealed.
Indulge in a cream tea on the train or lunch at one of the station cafes, or book onto one of the Railway’s evening Murder Mystery trains during the summer months. Driver experience courses are also available on selected days – driving a train is something you will never forget!
The Railway varies its opening dates outside of peak season, so please check their website for the most up to date information. They’ll be open on selected dates throughout December for the Santa Special trains, and then closed during January and February 2022. They will reopen on 15 March 2022.
During March to October 2022, check the website for opening days. The Railway closes on Mondays, except for some Bank Holidays. They will close again in November 2022.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to book their trip in advance - especially during the summer months, and on rainy days as the Railway can get very busy at these times.
Visitors should arrive half an hour before they are due to travel to allow themselves enough time to park, collect their tickets and buy any food that they wish to purchase. Those visitors who have bought tickets online still need to check in on arrival with the booking office. If you want to travel on a quieter day, the weekends tend to be less busy.
Join us for the 30th anniversary of Murder Mysteries aboard the Bodmin & Wenford Railway! This year’s event is called Murder on The Railway – The 1940’s Diamond Heist.
Celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway from the 2 to 5 June. Treat yourself one of our Right Royal Brunch boxes, a Platinum Afternoon Tea box or a Royal Compartment aboard one of our steam trains.
Bodmin & Wenford Railway’s popular Christmas trains are making a return to the heritage steam railway, Cornwall’s only full sized railway still operated by steam locomotives.
