Discover the nostalgia of steam travel with a journey back in time on Cornwall’s leading full-size railway operated by steam locomotives. Relax in style and enjoy a leisurely 13-mile round trip, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of a bygone age, as the era of a Cornish branch line in the 1950s is revealed.
Indulge in a cream tea on the train or lunch at one of the station cafes, or book onto one of the Railway’s evening Murder Mystery trains during the summer months. Driver experience courses are also available on selected days – driving a train is something you will never forget!
The Railway varies its opening dates and times depending whether they are in peak or non-peak season, so please check their website for the most up to date information. The non-peak season runs from March to May and October. The peak season runs June through to September. The Railway is closed during all other months, except December where it runs on selective dates for the Santa Special Trains.
Bodmin Railway will re-open on 19 March for the start of the 2023 season, operating on Tuesdays-Thursdays and Sundays. The Railway will also open on Bank Holidays and selective Saturdays for their Diesel Days. For any other event trains, private hire or weddings, please check their website for more information.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to book their trip in advance - especially during the summer months, and on rainy days as the Railway can get very busy at these times.
Visitors should arrive half an hour before they are due to travel to allow themselves enough time to park, collect their tickets and buy any food that they wish to purchase. Those visitors who have bought tickets online still need to check in on arrival with the booking office. If you want to travel on a quieter day, the weekends tend to be less busy.
