The Castles of Pendennis and St Mawes: Defending the Nation Lecture with Emma Hughes

Built in the 1540s to repel foreign invasion, the castles of Pendennis and St Mawes have guarded the Fal estuary for centuries. In this lecture, costumed historian Emma Hughes, better known as The Lady Time Traveller, explores the history of these fortifications and the vital role they played in protecting the nation. Doors open at 7pm, with drinks available from the Museum’s Waterside Cafe; the lecture begins at 7.30pm.

Emma Hughes is a Cornwall-based costumed historian specialising in Tudor and Stuart, Victorian, and World War II history, delivering education sessions, presentations and tours in historic dress.
