Victorian Christmas Events at The Story of Emily

On Saturday 6th December, we celebrate the Victorian era’s spellbinding love of movement and light with Victorian Christmas in Motion: from Puppets to Pictures, featuring:

• The Treetop Circus – a magical marionette show by the Flying with Strings Marionette Theatre
• A live performance by the award-winning 4tissimo String Quartet
• A Christmas-inspired early black-and-white silent film screening
• Restaurant favourites, warm popcorn, and mulled wine
• Create your own simple marionette with the Flying with Strings team — a wonderful hands-on experience for little makers and their grown-ups. This 45-minute to 1-hour workshop invites families to craft a card puppet to take home and pairs beautifully with our festive puppet show

On Sunday 7th December, the Rectory Drawing Room comes alive with classical readings by voice actress Frances Butt, including A Christmas Carol, Little Women and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, so you can sit back and enjoy a moment of calm during the busy season and picture Christmases of days gone by at The Rectory.

To attend these events, guests will need to purchase a day pass (or hold an annual or neighbour pass) in addition to the event ticket fee of £10 per person.
