SURF! is the next major exhibition from National Maritime Museum Cornwall, opening on Friday 28 March 2025.
The exhibition will celebrate 100 years of surfing in Cornwall, and reveals how Cornwall has become a global stage for surf activism, innovation and a trailblazer in blue health.
Through 100 surfboards, the exhibition uncovers the hidden histories of once unknown female surfers, reveals the 1920s pioneers who led the way and celebrates the surf champions of today.
The exhibition will also explore how Cornish surf culture has influenced music, film, fashion and art with unseen works by leading contemporary artists. It will feature a number of exciting objects, with amazing human stories and hidden histories sourced from private collections around the UK. Many of the objects, including some of the world’s most valuable surfboards, original tools, photographs, videos and artwork, have never before been on public display.
