An exhibition in collaboration with the Bull Pen Gallery.

Alice is a painter, walker and explorer based in Cornwall. She is passionate about capturing the essence of place, in particular those places she adventures into close to home.

Alice’s practice is rooted in landscape and each body of work begins as an exploration of a specific place. As she moves through moorlands, coastlines and gardens, she pauses to appreciate new perspectives through her mark making. From these studies bodies of work develop, and her experience of each place is distilled and abstracted within her paintings.

Alice uses a mixed-media approach to capture both the details and expansiveness of these unique landscapes. Her primary materials are pastels, acrylic paint, and charcoal: through playing with the interrelationship of these processes, she mirrors the interconnectedness of each place, in a way that illuminates and celebrates their essence.

Over the last 6 months, Alice has spent time walking and drawing at Cotehele to build a strong relationship with the gardens, orchards and riverside to create this new body of work. The title of the exhibition, ‘Abundance’, encapsulates the ever-changing richness of colour and form through the seasons, that makes Cotehele so distinctive.

The exhibition is housed in the Victorian Drawing Room at Cotehele House
There are steps to the Victorian Drawing Room, but artworks can be shown in the Victorian library downstairs, which has step free access.
