It is the evening before his wife, Penelope, will choose a new husband and she is suspicious of this new stranger. If he is her long-lost husband, where has he been for so long?
Can he, with a little divine intervention, convince her of his identity and continued affection before it’s too late?
Returning after its successful premier in 2021, our adaptation interweaves modern translations and original dialogue with text from the the 1725 poetical translation of The Odyssey by Alexander Pope.
Classic yet accessible, this musical adaptation touches on many of the universal themes of the tale, in particular loss, identity, like-mindedness and homecoming. This production is an introduction to this epic tale and, we hope, will spark a curiosity in the original!
