The Discovery Collections with Dr Tammy Horton, Thursday 17 November, 7.30pm
The Discovery Collections are made up of thousands of deep-sea biological samples dating back as far as 1925, providing insight and understanding into some of the deepest parts of the ocean. The collection is continually growing thanks to current research expeditions that gather new data, expanding our knowledge of these largely unexplored places.
This vitally important collection tells its own story, and is used by scientists and research institutes across the globe.
In this lecture, Tammy Horton, Research Scientist and Curator of the Discovery Collections, provides first-hand insight into the collection, explaining both the historical and modern methods of collection, and how it is helping shape current scientific understanding of our world.
