This year Lanhydrock is hosting a walk-through Halloween experience over the half-term break. Have you heard of Penny Dreadfuls, the sensational horror and adventure stories sold on the Victorian streets for a penny? Well some of the traditional characters have come to life and are haunting the Lanhydrock nursery. Dare you seek out the haunted treasure and escape the ghostly curse?
Visitors can buy their own Penny Dreadful with a real Victorian penny, meet some creepy characters and a storyteller or two, create their own haunted print in one of the linocut workshops and enter the writing competition to create a gruesome short story and win £50 to spend in the Lanhydrock book shop.
Those seeking out even more Halloween adventures can take on the ghost hunter trail on two wheels around the Lodge cycle trail. Adventure maps can be collected from the cycle hire building. Adventurers can round off their visit with some toothsome treats in the Park Café and Stables Tea-room and pick up a spooky gift or two in the shop and plant centre.
The Penny Dreadful Halloween Experience will run from Saturday 15 October to Monday 31 October. Booking is not required, normal admission applies.
