Best Days Out Cornwall

When: June 15 2022

Ednamair and the Robertsons at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall

Wednesday 15 June, 7.30pm.

On 15th June 1972, Lucette, a 43ft wooden schooner carrying the Robertson family, was attacked by a pod of killer whales. Within minutes, the boat sunk leaving the family to fight for their lives. They survived 38 days in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on board a flimsy inflatable life raft and then a cramped 10ft dinghy, Ednamair, before their eventual and miraculous rescue.

National Maritime Museum Cornwall is celebrating the 50th anniversary of this incredible story of human endurance with a talk by Douglas Robertson. Hear, in his own words, what happened on the 15th June 1972 and the following 38 days as the family fought to live.

Douglas will be joined by the other surviving members of the Robertson family for a panel discussion and an audience Q&A.
