Cornish Christmas Activities

Immerse yourself in the best of what makes our beautiful part of the world sparkle at this magical time of year with Cornish Christmas Activities at National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Craft willow decorations, help Charlie Chough uncover Cornwall’s festive traditions in our Museum trail, and more.

Lobster Pot Christmas Tree

Wednesday 13 December – Wednesday 3 January

Marvel at the Museum’s stunning willow lobster pot Christmas tree. The unique tree was constructed by Cadgwith fisherman Nigel Legge and decorated with plaster starfish made by Museum volunteers.

Make & Take

Monday 18 December – Wednesday 3 January 11am – 4pm (last entry 3.30pm)

Head to the Museum’s Main Hall and make your own unique willow tree fish decoration. After Christmas Day, you’ll be able to craft star wands for making New Year wishes!

Charlie Chough’s Christmas Trail

Charlie Chough is on the hunt to find out what makes a proper Cornish Christmas. Explore the Museum and help little Charlie discover fun things to do in Cornwall during this special time of year. The beautiful trail has been created in partnership with Cornwall-based illustrator Bex Bourne.

What else is at NMMC?

Explore 15 galleries over four floors, jump aboard boats, climb the 100-foot Lookout Tower, watch boat-building, go underwater in the Tidal Zone, discover stories of ocean adventures and survival, and sail miniature boats on the boat pool. What’s more, the scenic Waterfront Cafe serves tasty treats overlooking an unbeatable view of Falmouth Harbour.
