presented by Propeller Youth Company
7 September at 3.30pm and 7.30pm
Propeller Youth Company is a dance performance company for young people based at Falmouth University’s AMATA Arts Centre, led by Grace Murdoch. For this project – Body of Water the company interviewed members of the Cornish community about their relationship to the Sea. Broken down into three sections the dancers and guest speakers explore; The Swimmers – a playful mixed bag of people who swim in the Cornish Sea and why. Under the Surface – a look at what the ocean holds below where the water meets the sky. 71% a compilation of the power and passion our community has for the great body of water that covers 71% of the Earth’s surface.
The company dancers come together regularly and over intensive residencies to develop their skills in contemporary dance through a myriad of performance and developmental opportunities. Previous Propeller performances have included the Eden Project, the Minack Theatre, the National Trust Gwithian. Company members have participated in National Youth Dance Company, Sadlers Wells. Working with choreographers such as Wayne McGregor CBE, Botis Seva and Allesandra Seutin.
