About Royal Cornwall Museum

Founded in the early 1800s by the Royal Institute of Cornwall, their aim has always been to show the world-leading industries Cornwall has been renowned for – especially in the fields of science and art.

At the very heart of Cornwall and its cultural life, the museum is a centre of exploration and learning. Using the eclectic collections of Cornish culture, art, antiquities, archaeology, science, and natural history they aim to take people on a journey from deep underground to up into the sky, around the world and way back in time. In doing this, they use their collections to help communities look forward together.

With renowned displays of modern and classic art to enjoy, pick up discovery packs, trails and children’s activities to make your visit a great memory for the whole family.

Winter Opening Hours

The Museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm - keep an eye on their website for the most up to date seasonal opening times

Children go free

All children under the age of 18 get free entry to the museum. Adult tickets are only £5, and this includes an annual pass!

What Visitors Say

"We love coming here to this museum, every time we come to Cornwall. It's an excellent museum. There's so much to see there and there's an amazing restaurant with good homemade food there as well. Most definitely would recommend this place to anyone that likes to learn about the history of Cornwall."
"Beautiful little Museum in the city of Truro, I love it. Its small but full, not just local treasures but as far as Egyptian artifacts and all across the Mediterranean. Friendly staff and lots of space to roam around and totally covid friendly with plenty of hand sanitiser and spacers marked on the floor to help you keep your distance."
"It took an hour to go through the whole Musium. Was a lovely experience and plenty interesting things to see. As well as out of Cornwall exhibitions."
