-The Christmas craft fair takes place between 5 and 8 December in the barn.

A Cornish Christmas has arrived at the National Trust’s Trelissick, near Truro, with a busy month of festivities planned from 7 December – 5 January.

Across the National Trust near Truro the team have taken inspiration from local heritage, Cornish traditions and folklore. Decorations throughout the eighteenth-century house celebrate feasts and festivity with Montol masks, Cornish bushes and trees inspired by the colours of traditional Cornish tartan and hunting tartan.

Carols, Cornish dancing and shanties will be performed under the tipi in the stable yard (dates vary), where Christmas games and activities can also be found for the whole family to enjoy. Father Christmas returns for storytelling performances and a festive trail, inspired by the story of Tom Bawcock, leads families on an adventure around Trelissick searching for fish to feed the village of Mousehole.

Jen Pina, Property Operations Manager for Trelissick, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating local traditions old and new with a Cornish Christmas this year. We’re putting our heritage at the heart of the festive celebrations with Cornish carols, dancing, decorations, food and drink. We can’t wait to wish everyone a Nadelik Lowen”.

The popular annual Christmas craft fair will launch the festivities in the barn Trelissick from 5 – 8 December with an array of locally produced, handmade gifts on offer. The National Trust shop has a fabulous range of Christmas gifts as well as decorations and a great selection of Christmas food and drink including local produce.

Crofters café and the house tearoom will be serving festive treats, including mulled wine and mince pies, and the stable yard pop-up cafe will be serving seasonal cakes and hot chocolates to enjoy while you take in the festive atmosphere.

Trelissick closes at 2pm on Christmas Eve and is closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopening on 27 December for festive days out with storytelling in the tipi (dates vary) alongside the Christmas trail and festive games.
